Rants from the Dugout
Back in the Groove

After the savage beating we took the week prior, we took the field against Ceiling Inc at NDSU #1 this past week. We knew we needed to take two to stay within striking distance of the leaders, so we had our eyes on the prize. Despite the rain in the forecast, we took the field with a sweep in the front of our minds.
In game 1, we spotted them two unearned runs on a throwing error by Donnie. The bats would start cooking early. Chris led off with a single and Donnie pushed him around with a three bagger to the power alley. It was time for the Hog Palace to break this game up like a high school kegger. Cue the merry go round. ET, Randy, Sabe, Dammon, and Andy would all single to plate four more runs. Miffy would sacrifice in the final run of the inning for a 6-2 lead. We would score 1 in the 2nd on an RBI single by Donnie. We would score 3 in the 3rd on base hits by Randy, Andy, Barry and Tommy. When the smoke cleared and they wiped away their tears, we tucked away an 11-5 victory. The highlight of the game was Alicia taking a lazer throw from left center in the shin. ICE ICE BABY! That will definately leave a mark. Next game, please.
In the back end of the double dip, we would start out sloppy and end like the champions we are! We started out fast with two early runs by Sabe and Dammon, but would relinquish the lead in the bottom of the 2nd. In the third we would again take the lead. Donnie C lead off with a weak single to center. Chris and Donnie would single and would all be plated on a sacrifice by ET and a double by the Anvil. The game was neck and neck until the 7th. Dammon, Andy, Barry and Tommy would all reach on either a hit or walk. Miffy would sacrifice in one run and Donnie C would help his own cause by singling in one final run to take a three run lead. It would prove to be too much as we shut them down in the bottom half for a 10-7 victory.
It was a shame we waited a week to light up the sticks at the plate, but that is how it goes. As we wind down the end of the season we look forward to 4 more dominating wins in league and our annual trip to see Vernis in Red Willow. There may even be a show at Potato Days, but who knows. See you at the trap next week!
