Rants from the Dugout
Same Old, Same Old Situation
06/24/2006
Holy s&$% did the two weeks fly by in Chicago. For the first time in the history of the Hog Palace/Barnstormer, this team actually played two double dips with a maximum compliment of players. You guys are my heros, and ET, you got my vote for mayor! It would have been sweeter if you could have ran the table, but I never expected us to win every league game anyway. Great job!
Thursday not only marked my return, but a showdown with the bottom feeders from Hohenstein Masonry. When we showed up, I swear to God that they had a full Major League roster stretching out on the field. There would prove to be little talent in all of their numbers. Donnie C. decided to send a chill down our spines by not showing up until five minutes to first pitch. Nice joke, don't ever f*&%in do it again. He took the hill with time to spare and went right to work on them. We would jump out to a quick three run lead and really lay the stank down on the fourth inning. Andy, Tommy and Braden would all single to load the bases for Donnie C. He would help his own cause with a bleeder to right to score one. Chris would mop up the bases with a clearing triple to put the Palace up 7-0. We would squander 3 runs but get them back later in the game. When the dust cleared, Hog Palace 10 HM 3.
In the second game we would hit early and often ending the game in the sixth with a 7 run rally. Chris, Donnie, and ET led the inning off with base hits. Barry, Andy, Love, and Tommy would follow that flurry with singles of their own. After an intentional walk to Blue to juice the sacks, Braden would dig into the box with a chance to end the game via the 10 run rule with a base knock. With one out, Braden lazered the first pitch into left field to end the insanity 11-1. Welcome to Show Braden! Bats were electric from top to bottom, so maybe this is us hitting our stride. Donnie managed to pitch 13 innings on the night and somehow lower his microscopic era even more. Amazing!
Next week, we take our traveling fun show on the road to McKinley East against O'Leary's. Our King of the Hill will be off for the night so you may see the other Donnie getting his time on the hill. If we hit the ball, it won't matter who is on the hill. Come early and catch the double dip, and the Hog Palace roll! See you at the yard, Meat!
