Back in Action

Well I'm back from my time in Chicago, and I was very pleased at how the boys competed while I was gone. I don't think we have ever went 4-0 when I've been gone. I apologize to my loyal followers for this being so late, but I have really taken London getting the 2012 Olympics instead of Fargo a lot harder than I thought I would. I'll try to move on from that disappointment.
My first week back placed our 5 game winning streak against the likes of Chumley's. This wasn't the same Chumley's team we have been accustomed to just rollin over and taking two in the hind end from us. They had a different look, different feel, but the same losing results.
Game one started like all games should, with 2 runs being plated. A four hit rally is always a nice way to start out the first. In the second we would tally 4 more, and 3 in the third and fourth. We put these losers out of their misery with one more in the fifth to end the game by the ten run rule. At the plate we were led by Donnie's four hits, and Dammon and Barry's three hits apiece. Hell, even Comb your nuts pitched in with a three hit extravaganza. The highlights of the game were Barry batting out of turn, the outfield tossing out two runners on the bases, and inside the parkers by Dammon and Donnie. When the dust settled, Stucker tallied another win and we had ourselves a 13-3 victory.
The second game was so typical for us I don't even know why I'm wasting my time reporting it to you. We jumped to an early lead, fell asleep, stuck our heads in our asses, and then had to pull it out late. We continued the hitting onslaught in the first with 4 singles and 3 runs. After one innning it was 3-0, in favor of the Good Guys. We would score 2 more in the third on back to back to back to back singles by Dammon, Donnie, Randy, and Jeff. Now is when we fell asleep. We would give away 3 in the third, 6 in the fifth, and one in the sixth to trail 10-6 going into the top of seven. You can imagine the sick feeling in my stomach to not only be down 4 to these braindeads, but to give them so many runs in the process. I didn't know whether to heave or just get thrown out of the game to save me the misery of watching us piss one down our legs. The seventh inning was where we saved it all. Matt lead off with a walk, and Barry followed that up with a single to left. Stucker shook off the 0-5 bug and singled to right to juice the bags for Dammon with no one out. Dammon would double to right but Stucker got hung up between second and third to almost kill a rally. Donnie followed with a double to center to score Dammon, leaving us one run down with a guy at second. Hot hitting Anvil came up short on a drive to left center, sacrificing Donnie to third. Let me set the table for you. Down 1 run, 2 out in the top of the 7th, and ET coming to the plate. Did I forget to mention that the wind had switched and was now blowing in from left. By his own admission, ET has not been hitting like he is able this year. He managed to take a 2-1 pitch and deposit it over the Michelin Tire sign, and beat Chumley's 11-10. The game was a blur, and to me THE highlight of the game was ET's drive into the wind over the wall in left center.
Don't get me wrong, both games were a total and complete team effort. Again we showed some solid defense, and yet another solid performance from Stucker on the mound despite the less than perfect conditions. The winning streak is now at 7, and we want to see it climb to 20.
The following week we were jacked to be facing Fargo H2O. Mother Nature didn't share the same enthusiasm as us, as we were cancelled due to "wet field conditions". Now I drove by some fields, and just didn't see the wet conditions. We will make up the double dip on August 11th, which is nice because I will be back off vacation. We are off tonight, so come see us take on the Bison Turf #4 next week at McKinley fields, 6:30 sharp. See you at the yard, Meat.
