Looking Forward
6/30/2004
Here we are at the break in the season. This in the past has been when people have decided to take a night off or just blow the season off all together. Not this year! For the first time in 6 years I don't have to go on my AT for the Navy this year. If I have to go to people's house's to roust them up, then dammit that is what I will do. Actually, the turnout for every week has been pretty solid. I don't believe we have ever had to take the field without using one or two extra hitters. A new league record.
From here we are looking at the final stretch of the league schedule. It would have been nice to whip the Sport's Bar's asses twice to inflate the record and the stats, but what are you gonna do? With the exception of the first game, which it seems we lose every year, we have beaten teams like they have stole something. I don't see that changing anytime soon. I don't know if you have noticed but we eclipsed the 100 run mark in 8 league games. That number is only going to get larger with back-to-back games with Chumley's and D + P Terminal. That by the way is homecoming for us, starting defense, place at the table. Or for Randy, it's time to get a mean on! The month ends with a head to head with Fargo water and one more with the Turf. I see only one loss in our future but that is just me.
Unlike other years, we are also coming into not one but two tournaments coming up this month. July 18th is the one pitch, and our state tournament... Red Willow. I think we have been away from Vernis too long, it's time to make an appearance. Pack your beer, glove and spikes and a baboon's liver, cause it is time to drink. Notice I didn't include toothbrush or change of clothes, because only myself and one or two others ever do.
So it is go time, come see us lay the smackdown on this pitiful league Thursday's at NDSU or Lindenwood this month. Beatings will begin at 6:30 sharp. If you can't attend in person don't be afraid to leave the us a message at the Barnstormer Forum located on this site. If you can't be in athletics be an athletic supporter. Or something like that. See you at the yard, Meat.
